Publicis Media today announced the promotion of Nadine Young to the role of CEO, Starcom UK, reporting to Sue Frogley, CEO, Publicis Media UK.
Young was appointed as Managing Director of Starcom in 2019, in addition to her role as MD of specialist Procter & Gamble unit, PG One, which she has successfully led since 2016. Over the past year, she has helped secure a number of significant new business wins for Starcom including Ferrero and AXA.
Young leads the 400-strong agency with an immediate focus to build momentum and deliver meaningful growth for clients. Before Starcom, Young held leadership roles in the industry, including Mindshare and Vizeum during a nine-year period in New York.
Sue Frogley, CEO Publicis Media UK, said: “Nadine has been a key part of our succession plans and I am thrilled to be able to promote her to CEO of Starcom. She has more than proven her brilliance in running the agency as MD, so this is testament to her dedication to our clients and our people alike.”
To further strengthen the leadership team, Richard Friar is appointed as Managing Director of Starcom UK. Friar will report directly into Young and will be responsible for driving growth for the agency. Formerly managing partner of Mediacom, he was responsible for leading the UK planning function and brings multi-disciplinary experience across brands including TUI, Mars, Bayer, Groupe PSA and VW Group. His previous roles include Business Director at Vizeum UK leading accounts including BMW and Channel 5.
Louise Peacocke, former Managing Partner at Starcom will succeed Young as Managing Director of PG One, joining forces with PG One’s COO Carol Miller-Repetto to continue building the P&G business. Peacocke previously held the role of Head of Digital on the P&G account and has held senior positions at Mediacom for over seven years, leading clients including Direct Line Group, Sky, Scope and E.ON. Peacocke will report into Jayne Roseman, Managing Director, P&G Region Europe.
Nadine Young, CEO, Starcom UK, said: “I have a long history with Publicis Media and some of the most rewarding times in my journey here have been since joining Starcom just over a year ago. I’m therefore immensely proud to take over the reins from Mark and lead this fantastic agency going forwards. I’m also thrilled to bring Richard on board, he has a wealth of experience leading large teams and I know he’ll be a great addition as we look to build on the momentum from some great wins last year.
“By the same token, Louise has an incredible track record of managing teams and running client accounts at the most senior level. Her ambitious focus and previous experience working on P&G makes her ideally placed to take over from me and lead PG One to further success.”
Young takes over from Mark Howley who has been CEO at the agency since 2018. Howley, who held a dual role for the last two years, will now solely focus on his role as Chief Operating Officer of Publicis Media UK.
Sue Frogley, added, “Mark has done a brilliant job at Starcom which I’m hugely grateful for, and I’m personally looking forward to working more closely with him again on driving the overall performance of Publicis Media in the UK.”
These latest appointments at Starcom add to an already strong leadership team including Dan Plant who was promoted to Executive Head of Strategy at the end of 2019; Isabelle Baas, Managing Partner Digital, Data and Technology; and Paul Kasamias, Managing Partner Performance.
